All of this is on top of learning a new skill set that seems to be a bottomless pit of knowledge to retain. Truly things are not this complicated and I will do my best to sort it out for you.
SO what is SEO really all about?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it is the holy grail for website owners. Basically the better your website is optimized for Google, Bing and Yahoo the higher it will show in the rankings and more exposure to the public it will get. SEO is a big popularity contest and we want out website to be prom queen.
Before I continue on I will share a resource essential to maximizing your SEO experience and that is Jaaxy, used for Keyword Searches. Here is a link to my Full Review:
An important thing in understanding SEO is to understand that the Search Engines are not people so the way the determine the “popularity” of a website is purely off data. One of the ways Google for instance pulls this data is by picking out relevant keywords and phrases throughout your site and compiling it for future use.
You don’t want to go keyword crazy but you do want some relevance and uniformity throughout your posts and overall website. For instance if the title of an article you are writing is “How to dominate the online market” then it would also be good to have relevant keywords to that in the rest of your article, links and even image descriptions.
Do not over do the keywords…
In years past you could get away with a lot of stuff you can not anymore. The reason you can not over do your keywords is because the Search Engines will recognize this as lesser quality content and cause your site to be ranked lower because of it.
So here is what you want to do to OPTIMIZE your website:
Write quality content… and a lot of it. This doesn’t mean your pages need to be 3000 words long. It just means write really good content that is actually relevant to your topic rather then keyword ridden text that serves no purpose. You just pick a topic and write about it as naturally as you can and make sure to rise and repeat often. Consistent content creation also adds to the amount of authority Google, Bing and Yahoo will give your website credit for.
SO… there you have it. No easy answer just a lot of hard work and dedication to make it to the top. I wish you good luck and hope you find the success you are looking for!
